It’s the first day of May and a new month where Okanagan residents are hoping to see more sunshine than they did in April after more than 37 millimetres of rain fell in the Kelowna area.

The forecast for this week will start out cloudy, with a chance of showers on Monday afternoon that will carry on into the evening. Tuesday will be mainly sunny with a high of 18 C — much the same for Wednesday.

On Thursday the mercury could hit a possible 26 C during the day; however Thursday evening Environment Canada is calling for periods of rain that will continue into Friday.

For the weekend, Saturday could see a 60 per cent chance of showers which should clear in the evening with the sun returning on Sunday.
