Spring is in full form with lots to do and see this weekend in Penticton.

Here’s what’s happening from April 19 to 21:

BCHL Playoffs (April 19 to 20)

The Penticton Vees host the Vernon Vipers on Friday and Saturday, for the second round of the BCHL Playoffs.

After completing a four-game sweep of the Prince George Spruce Kings, the Vees will meet the Vipers in the playoffs for the first time since 2017.

Puck drop for both games is at 7 p.m.

Return of Penticton Farmers’ Market (April 20)

The Penticton Farmers’ Market is back for another season as vendors from across the region set up in the 100-block of Main Street from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The market will run every Saturday from April 20 to Oct. 26, and bring road closures to the 100-block of Main Street, north of Westminster Avenue.

Pancake breakfast for volunteers (April 20)

On Saturday, from 8 to 11 a.m. Penticton firefighters and other community leaders will be serving up pancakes in Gyro Park for the hundreds of volunteers across the South Okanagan and Similkameen.

The event is hosted by the South Okanagan Similkameen Volunteer Centre.

Earth Week 2024 (April 20)

Learn about Penticton’s newest climate initiatives at an Earth Week event on Saturday.

The city-led gathering will be held in Gyro Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Senior Centre Society’s 30th Anniversary Fundraising Gala (April 20)

The Penticton Seniors Centre Society holds its 30th-anniversary fundraising gala on Saturday night.

Door prizes, silent auction items and much more will be featured at the event.

“Dine and dance to the South Okanagan Big Band,” an event notice reads.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and tickets are $75.

Roller derby is back (April 20)

The Penticton Pistoleras host their rivals from Kelowna on Saturday night at the local curling club at 505 Vees Drive.

The game serves as the teams’ regular-season opener and is dubbed ‘Huff, Puff, Pass.’

There will be a beverage garden and food truck.

Okanagan Valley Throwdown (April 20 to 21)

Athletes from across Western Canada will have their strength, agility and endurance challenged when they participate in the 11th annual Okanagan Valley Throwdown this weekend at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre.

The event welcomed around 300 spectators to the city in 2023.

Penticton Sports and Fitness Expo (April 21)

Local sports groups will be at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre on Sunday for the second annual Penticton Sports and Fitness Expo.

Event organizers say it could help people connect with new sports.

Expo runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
