Celebrating their fifth year of existence, AlleyCATS Alliance Society has taken in their 1,000th cat.

The lucky number 1,000 was named Angelo by the volunteers because he looks like he has a small pair on angel wings on his shoulders.

“Angelo was born to a semi feral mom and dad, who had shown up in a Penticton neighbourhood where a kind woman was feeding the little family, but the home was recently sold and she was very concerned about their welfare, so she contacted AlleyCATS who agreed to take them in. A volunteer was contacted and it was arranged to set some live traps to catch them.,” said Allycats board member Theresa Nolet.

It took a little time but AlleyCATS was successful and the little family was captured. All three were sent to the vet to be altered and given a health check.

“While Angelo is young and was easily convinced that living with people was far superior to the nomadic lifestyle of a feral/abandoned cat, mom and dad will take a little time to adjust,” said Nolet.

They fall under what AlleyCATS refers to as “special needs” as they were handled at one time in their lives, but they are very scared and will require patience by anyone considering to adopt them. Those kind of special people can be difficult to find said Nolet.

“Due to the nature of what AlleyCATS does, the trapping of feral cats, we often get cats that we feel deserve the chance to live a domestic lifestyle so to speak, cats such as Angelo’s parents who we know with time and patience will make a lovely addition to someone’s family but may never be the cuddly lap cat that a kitten can become.”

If you support what AlleyCATS does, the group of dedicated volunteers ask that you please consider to adopt a “special needs” cat if you are thinking of adding a cat to your family. To learn more about how you can support AlleyCATS visit our website at www.alleycatsalliance.org to learn more.
