The Summerland Chamber of Commerce is open to a Friday evening market in Summerland this summer, but the chamber will not coordinate such an initiative.
Speaking to municipal council on Monday evening, chamber manager Christine Petkau said the board would like to see the Summerland Merchants’ Group or a private vendor manage an evening market.
“It wasn’t something we could take on within the chamber,” she said.
At present, Summerland has a farmers’ market on Tuesday mornings. This market which continues through October, is privately managed.
